Bappi Lahiri, renowned music composer, dies at age 69

The demise of Lahiri, affectionately known as ‘Bappi Da’, has shocked entire Bollywood personalities.
Bappi Lahiri, a veteran singer-music director who began his career at 17, died on Tuesday night at Criticare Hospital in Mumbai. He was 69 and had been admitted to the hospital for certain post-Covid issues earlier last year.
As part of the hospital’s official announcement, they confirmed Lahiri’s death and stated that he suffered from obstructive sleep apnea and recurrent chest infections. His treatment was provided by Dr. Deepak Namjoshi. He was hospitalized in Criticare Hospital, Juhu for 29 days with this. He recovered well and was discharged home on 15 February. However, after a day at home, his health again deteriorated and he was brought back to Criticare hospital Juhu in a critical state and succumbed to his illness at about 11:45 pm. He had OSA for the last 1 year. He was admitted on multiple occasions to Criticare Hospital.
 The Bengali-born composer started his career with Bengali film music for the film ‘Daadu’ and launched his Bollywood career with the film ‘Nanha Shikari’. He shot to international prominence with the hit chart-topping music for “Disco Dancer” and the song ‘Jimmy, Jimmy, Aaja, Aaja…”, and later for “Zakhmee”, “Lahu Ke Do Rang’.
