According to Oxford University Press, anxiety is the children’s word of the year

Using their recent research, Oxford University Press (OUP) has chosen ‘anxiety’ as the word of the year for children.
Oxford University Press (OUP) had surveyed roughly 8,000 children aged 7-14 from 85 schools in the United Kingdom. Kids were asked to select the words they most often used to talk about health and wellbeing.
Over twenty percent of students chose “anxiety” (21%) as their number one word, reflecting the widespread impact lockdowns and school closures had on their wellbeing.
“Challenging” came in as their second choice (19%) closely followed by “isolate” (14%). “Wellbeing” (13%) and “resilience” (12%) were also in the children’s top five words, demonstrating their positive attitude in the face of recent challenges, according to OUP,’ reads a report by The Bookseller.
In response to the survey’s results, The Children’s Society’s executive director of social impact, Joe Jenkins, told the Guardian that ‘it was concerning that anxiety had been chosen as the top word, but not surprising considering all the restrictions and changes children have been subjected to’.
Teachers were also asked to select the top words they used to communicate with students about health and wellbeing, especially in light of the Coronavirus pandemic. Among the top three words chosen by teachers were “resilience” (31%), “challenging” (19%), and “wellbeing” (18%).
According to The Bookseller, Helen Freeman, director of early childhood and home education at OUP, believes that language is crucial to self-expression, learning, and wellbeing. Specifically, the findings emphasize the important role teachers play in equipping children with appropriate vocabulary for expressing their emotions and supporting their wellbeing. The importance of supporting children’s language development at home and in school has therefore never been greater.”

COVID delayed several major art exhibitions in the Capital

Several art exhibitions in Delhi were postponed due to rising cases of COVID.
Several artists booked the venue at Delhi’s Bikaner House for an exhibition more than a year ago. As a result of the rising number of COVID cases in the Capital, the tripartite exhibition of Sakti Burman, Maite Delteil, and Maya Burman has been postponed from January 13 to 22.
The show had been planned months in advance in hopes that things would have gotten back to normal by now, but who would have thought it would be this way. Despite being ready to mount the exhibition, the space has been closed due to the increasing number of cases. As soon as we receive new directives from government sources, the exhibition will be rescheduled.
As COVID cases in the Capital spiral out of control, several major art exhibitions are being postponed, although private galleries are still allowed to operate. Renu Modi, director of Gallery Espace, says people have reservations about visiting galleries at a time like this. In the first week of December, the opening of her last exhibition in the gallery was well received, but given the current situation in Delhi, she has decided to postpone the opening of her next exhibition, which is the solo exhibition of artist Manisha Gera Baswani. ‘It won’t be fair to the work.’ People won’t flock to the gallery. “I think we’ll open it in April,” Modi says.
There were several exhibitions of prominent artists in Delhi during the fourth quarter of 2021, but with India experiencing the third wave of economic growth, the art industry remains cautious. A key element of India’s culture calendar, the India Art Fair (IAF), was moved from February to April (April 28 to May 1). IAF’s director, Jaya Asokan, said, “Everything else remains the same: the venue, fantastic art, and a huge celebration of culture in a safe environment.”. I’m sure the future will be unpredictable, but I’m confident that India Art Fair will deliver a fair as dynamic and fresh as ever this April.”.

You can reduce food waste by following these three simple steps

You can also start your own vegetable, fruit, or herb garden by recycling as much as you can. You can compost, and put nutrients back into the soil”
Besides being a social problem, food waste is also a problem for the environment. Therefore, it is imperative to take steps to avoid food wastage at all costs. Here are a few tips to help you get started.”Food waste is a more serious problem than most people realize. Our habits of overbuying food at markets, letting vegetables and fruits spoil at home and taking larger portions than we can consume put extra strain on our natural resources. Wasted food represents wasted labor, effort, investment, and precious resources. Wasted food contributes to climate change because it increases greenhouse gas emissions,”
There are three simple ways to reconnect with food and what it represents:

Reducing food waste at home and improving food storage. Consuming only what you need.
In case you don’t finish your meal, you can save it for later or use it in another dish.
Try to recycle as much as you can. Make compost to replenish the soil with nutrients. A green patch of fruits, vegetables, or herbs can also be started.
It is up to us to change our habits so that food waste will no longer be a problem! By working together for a better and more sustainable world.

Looks like Ananya Panday-Ishaan Khatter and also Kiara Advani-Sidharth Malhotra all saw the tiger!

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh traveled to the same destination to ring in the year 2021 as Ananya Panday-Ishaan Khatter and Kiara Advani-Sidharth Malhotra. In the arid hills of Rajasthan, they visited Ranthambore National Park. One of the best places to see the Royal Bengal Tiger in the country is in the Sawai Madhopur National Park, which covers the three districts of Sawai Madhopur, Karuali, and Kota.

There is a high probability, but no guarantee, that tourists will see the big cat in the park. Ranthambore is also home to other fauna, such as hyenas, leopards, sambar deer, langur monkeys, sloth bears, among others, as well as many bird species like Bronze-winged Jacanas, Sandpipers, Painted Spurfowls, Great Horned Owls, Painted Sandgrouses, and Nightjars. The city also has the largest banyan tree in the world.
Ranthambore National Park is named for the Ranthambore Fort, which stands tall amidst the jungle to this day. In 1973, when the shrinking forest cover and the increasing tiger population brought serious concerns, Ranthambore was designated a national park and tiger reserve. The fort dates back to the 10th century and is now one of Rajasthan’s most important historical landmarks. A Jain temple and three Hindu temples are located inside. They were both recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites in 2013.
There is only one way to explore the national park: through guided safaris aboard six-seater jeeps or open-top trucks (canters) for larger groups of up to 20 people. From November to January, safaris are conducted in shifts of three and a half hours, one in the morning from 7 am to 10:30 am and another in the afternoon from 2 pm to 5:30 pm. Timings may vary from year to year. Safari bookings can be handled either by your travel agency or the hotel, or you can do it yourself through the Rajasthan government’s online portal. Ranthambore’s gateway, Sawai Madhopur, offers several options for accommodation in the form of luxury villas and heritage hotels. Visit sites like Surwal Lake, Kachida Valley, Lakarda-Anantpura, Trinetra Ganesh Temple, and Jogi Mahal that are nearby the National Park.

A ‘danda’ adds some fun to Malaika Arora’s daily workout.

I like to add a bit of fun to my daily routine by adding core strengthening poses like Trikonasana and its variations,” Malaika said. Even if you have mastered a yoga pose, you can always improve. In her challenging fitness classes, Malaika Arora shows us how to do that. Malaika mastered Parivrtta Trikonasana or Revolved Triangle pose recently, but with a twist. The 48-year-old used a stick or ‘danda’ in the practice.
Here’s how to do it.
*Avoid doing this pose if you have a neck or back injury.
Benefits:-
The pose strengthens and stretches the legs, and opens the chest which improves breathing, and helps aid balance. Doing it with a stick adds more pressure to the workout and keeps the core engaged.
